Political System:

Mauritius is a parliamentary democracy, which is a fancy way of saying that the people get to vote for their leaders, and these leaders make laws for the country. There's a President, who is the head of state, and a Prime Minister, who is the head of the government. The Parliament of Mauritius has two parts: the National Assembly and the Council of Ministers. The National Assembly is like a big classroom where representatives, called Members of Parliament, discuss and decide on the country's laws. The Council of Ministers, on the other hand, is a group of the most important leaders who help the Prime Minister make big decisions.

Prime Ministers of Mauritius:

The first Prime Minister of Mauritius was Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam, who is often fondly called the "Father of the Nation" because he helped Mauritius become independent from British rule in 1968. There have been other Prime Ministers over the years, each bringing their own ideas to help make Mauritius a better place. Some notable names include Anerood Jugnauth, Navin Ramgoolam (who is the son of the first Prime Minister), and Pravind Jugnauth.

Relations with Other Countries:

Mauritius is like a friendly neighbor in the community of countries. It has good relationships with nearby countries like India, France, and South Africa. These relationships are like friendships that help Mauritius trade goods, like swapping toys, and work together on big projects. Mauritius is also part of some bigger groups of countries, like the United Nations and the African Union, where countries talk about how to make the world a better place. Through these friendships, Mauritius also learns and shares ideas on how to take care of its beautiful island and the wonderful people living there.
